March’s member of the month is likely no surprise to anyone who has been following our #MarchMadnessChallenge. This member has not only shown up, she has brought some serious fire. When she walks in the door, she is ready to work and has the most upbeat and positive attitude. She is truly prepared for anything our instructors could throw her way. Taking OVER 30 classes this month, she has shown her dedication to becoming better, faster and stronger. If you thought all the classes she took this month was impressive, how about her new PR on a 100m row of 16 seconds! Without further-a-do, March’s member of the month is Julie Kingsley!
Challenge stats aside, Julie is a key member of our community here at Sweat Fixx. She is consistently challenging us to be better, in so many ways. To start, when any of our instructors see her name on a class roster, thats an indication to bring it. Not that we’re not bringing it to every single class, but Julie has seen it all at this point. She is consistently challenging us to think of new exercises or adding that extra piece to make something just that much more difficult. She pushes our entire crew, front desk included, to raise the bar and that is the type of member we can’t help but love. Her passion for being better than yesterday in every workout is simply contagious.
We are thrilled to have Julie as part of our community, so let’s get to know her a little better!
1. How do you stay so motivated? I have an internal competitiveness with myself to do the best I can do to stay healthy. I keep on keeping on and fitness is a big part of my overall well being.
2. When you aren’t getting your Fixx, where can we find you? Enjoying the great outdoors with my awesome 6 year old son and husband on some kind of a family adventure.
3. Best piece of advice you’ve been given? Best piece of advice you can give to someone else? Breathing. Cadence, Focus . Form was something my indoor cycling coach used to yell at us all the time and that is something I apply to many aspects of my life.
4. How do you balance everything?! Family, work, workouts, meal prep, getting your husband to try Sweat Fixx, too! (We can attest first hand that Julie’s home cooked meals are FANTASTIC. Thanks, again, for the post workout fuel!) I constantly strive to find balance in everything I do. Sometimes I get it right and sometimes, its evolving. Meal prep is by far the most time consuming, the hardest in terms of keeping it varied and it’s my least favorite. Couples Row and Browmance were all set up in an effort to get my husband ready for his CAT skiing adventure and to find an exercise regime that we can do together since we both have different levels of fitness. Sweat Fixx has provided us with this opportunity.
5. You participate in the Whole 30 – When did you start? How long have you been participating? Any favorite recipes? What are some of the effects you’ve seen? I started my Whole 30 journey in February of 2015 and primarily live by the guidelines they recommend. My favorite recipe of this week is Whole30 “The Art in Life” shepherds pie. There are so many great Facebook/Instagram groups that share fabulous recipes that keep me from food boredom. Whole 30 has changed so many things in my life. My body now runs as a well oiled machine. I have noticed my running improved – yay for some PRs, my overall fitness capabilities have changed and I no longer have an soreness in my joints. Overall, the Whole30 has been a great tool to help me achieve balance between working out and what I put in my body- prior, this was always a struggle.
6. Favorite guilty pleasure? Whoopie Pies and Fresh Kettle corn #notwhole30
8. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be? Whole 30 style it would be the Buffalo Chicken Stuffed Yams- Not Whole30 Chicken Fingers and French Fries
9. Favorite Fixx class and why? I have yet to take a class I didn’t like. My fave by far is the Row Fixx because I feel like I am able to get a nice mix of cardio and strength- its quick and a whole body workout. Just what my body and mind craves from a workout.
