Kerri has been rocking the mic since we opened our doors in Arlington. Her infectious smile and encouraging words make early mornings in Arlington not only sweaty, but a blast too. This holiday season was a EXTRA special for Kerri, as her then-boyfriend-now-fiance popped the question… making our #FixxFam a little larger. In order to celebrate with Kerri, we’ve decided to get to know her a little bit better, and share what makes Kerri such a special part of the Sweat Fixx crew, in our latest instructor spotlight!
How did you hear about Sweat Fixx and what made you interested in being a part of the team?
I heard about Sweat Fixx from some of my Wakefield friends. The timing was right for me to try something new. My first class at Sweat Fixx was like a great first date; I walked in a little nervous and not knowing what to expect. I quickly became comfortable and found myself looking forward to my next ‘fixx’…thus our relationship evolved.
What kept you coming back?
The clients, the instructors, the energy and philosophy. In summary, the culture.
When you aren’t at Sweat Fixx, where can we find you?
Ideally, at my family’s lake house in New Hampshire 🙂
Where is your favorite place to grab a quick snack?
I don’t live too far outside of Davis Square and I love being able to walk there! Whether it’s for coffee or meeting up appetizers, I really enjoy the varying restaurants, cafes, and bars in that immediate area.
What’s your favorite guilty pleasure?
Wine! I love being cozy at home and opening a bottle of wine on a Sunday or meeting friends out after work to catch up over a glass of Italian Red.
What’s one thing about you, that people would NEVER guess?
5 years ago a doctor told me I may never be able to run again. Since then, I’ve had both of my hips operated on at Children’s Hospital, with the more recent of the two surgeries being less than 4 years ago. I’ve run 3 Half Marathons and Completed 3 Pan-Mass Challenge 164 mi bike rides for the Jimmy Fund since! I think a huge part of my drive is knowing I can achieve something I was once told I couldn’t.
What’s one thing you are most proud of accomplishing in the past six months?
Joining this team! I was scared to try something new with an entirely new group of people but they have welcomed me, trained me, and embraced the new instructors in a way I could have never expected. I am glad I took a leap, and these guys caught me!
One piece of advice you would give to someone who is walking through the Sweat Fixx doors for the first time?
Check your fears at the door. Don’t let anything stand between you and your goals. As we’ve been saying in my morning classes, “we woke up for this!”
Anything else you want to share?
