Our March Member of the Month never backs away from a challenge. Every Saturday, you can catch her during Battle Fixx where you’ll always see her dominating her row and lifts to stay at the top of the Battle board. When you are in a class with Dara, you know you will be challenge and inspired. She brightens up the whole room with her laugh, motivates the class with her hustle, and inspires all of us to be a little bit stronger every single day.

How did you first hear about Sweat Fixx?
I heard talk about this new studio opening with all rowers. I was super excited to try it out, but I was unable to sign up for it right away, because of my doctor’s orders. I was born with a hip deformity, and because of this, I have limited rotation in my hip, damage to cartilage and tears. I have had a few minor day surgeries to help with the hip pain, but need major surgery to actually fix it and be better. Since I’ve had this issue for so long, it has also caused my knees to be crappy. I dislocated my knee in late 2017 and was told to wear a brace, don’t work out, and not to bend my knee more than 90 degrees.
After rest, brace, and lots of physical therapy I was finally cleared to work out and I signed up immediately for Miriah’s HIIT Fixx on a Friday morning. I’ve been here ever since.
What keeps you coming back?
The addiction I have to this studio and community!
The workout you get is unbelievable, makes you really focus on you and push yourself to strive harder for the goal you want. The community is even more unbelievable – it makes you comfortable enough to workout, and not care how much you are sweating because they are right in the same boat with you!
What’s one thing that you look forward to every time you come to Sweat Fixx?
Beating my own PR’s, the instructors, the friends in class, new events happening….okay that’s 4 things, but I couldn’t pick just one!
What motivates you to be stronger?
Elise’s abs! Sorry Elise, but it is true. I don’t ever want to just sit down and do nothing, so I am a big motivator for myself – I get it from my mom 🙂
When you aren’t crushing it on the rower or mat, where can we find you?
You can find me with my two crazy Aussies (walking, hiking, dog parks…), Marshalls, work, or The Energy Barre (need to fit that workout in, too!).
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Donuts and workout clothes.
What are you most proud of accomplishing since you first came to Sweat Fixx?
My proudest accomplishment is actually being able to row and losing 17 lbs. I wasn’t sure how rowing was going to work – I didn’t know if I could actually sit on a rower and row, or if it would cause me to injure myself more, but I have been non-stop since walking into the studio back in October and I feel great!
One tip that you would give to someone who is coming to Sweat Fixx for the first time?
Be prepared to fall in love and be addicted to this workout and community!
