Elisabeth Joseph, also known as EJ, has been crushing her Fixxes since we opened our doors in Arlington. She embodies the definition of grit and dedication – never giving up and always showing up. Whether she’s “woo”ing with Greg during a 5:30AM HIIT Fixx, or getting one inch lower in a Sculpt Fixx with Elise, you’ll never see her phone in a workout; she gives it her all every single time she walks in the studio.
She was one of our first few people to make it in to the Arlington 100 Class Club, and not only has she transformed herself physically, but mentally, as well.
We are so proud to introduce your to our April Member of the Month – EJ!
How did you first hear about Sweat Fixx?
Honestly I was surfing the Internet last summer, and saw a social media ad for it, I saw the rowers and thought “I could probably do that.” I saw that there was a studio coming to Arlington and I decided I really wanted to try it
What keeps you coming back?
Everything! After spending my first class thinking I was going to die, and trying not to vomit, I got addicted. I had gotten in a really bad place with feeling like I had “let myself go.” I had gained a bunch of weight, let myself get to a really unhealthy place, and was disappointed. I expected to work out and feel better, but I have gained so much more from Sweat Fixx. The whole community, all the instructors, are so awesome.
What motivates you to be stronger?
The community feeling of Sweat Fixx – everyone, all the instructors and other participants are so encouraging and it is fun to all get stronger together.
What is one thing you have gained since you have started coming?
Self confidence- I feel so empowered and stronger since I have made this a priority. It is something I do for myself, but it makes every aspect of my life better. I am stronger for work, I am stronger and more confident for my kids, and I feel better and look better which makes my husband (and me) very happy.
When you aren’t crushing it on the rower or mat, where can we find you?
Either working on the ambulance (#gottapayforsonincollege) or hanging out with my family. My girls TnT love Sweat Fixx almost as much as I do, and I can even convince my husband to come work out once in a while.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Lately, it has been spending too much money buying new leggings and shopping for new sneakers.
What are you most proud of accomplishing since you first came to Sweat Fixx?
I am super proud of how far I have come. When I started I was sore for a week and winded after the first round. Now, I not only keep up, but can consistently hit a decent distance in a 3o second push, and I can actually do a plank! I see the changes in my body and the muscle I have gained.
One tip that you would give to someone who is coming to Sweat Fixx for the first time?
Come in with an open mind, believe in yourself and stick with it. Embrace the community and don’t forget to have fun!
