Our May member of the month is nearing her one year Fixx-aversary! She always has a smile on her face, and is up for any challenge that we might through at her. Charlotte Lunde is a staple in the Wakefield studio, and takes classes whenever they work best for her – regardless if it’s an 8AM class or a 7:45PM class. And she shows up with the same fire.
Greg R. has this to say about our Member of the Month:
“I only have the pleasure of torturing the Wakefield crowd once a week, but since day one, there have been a handful people that have made my Monday nights en fuego! Charlotte, or as I affectionately call her “Chaaaaaaahhhhhletttttte” (in the most annoying North Shore accent), is the sunshine we all need at 7:45 on a Monday night! She’s always smiling, dancing on her rower, singing along to my playlists, and she’s always first to laugh at my horrendous jokes! Congrats on your member of the month Chaaaaahhhhhhletttte! Life throws you curveballs, but you always have your Sweat Fixx fam and we all love you!”
So, without further ado, learn more about our member of the month, Charlotte Lunde, now!
How did you first hear about Sweat Fixx?
My friend Mary Ann had started taking classes and got us interested. So, my friend Jessica and I tried out a class together last June and I have been addicted ever since!
What keeps you coming back?
What keeps me coming back is the way it makes my mind and body feel.
Believe it or not, I used to be into running distance, and I ran 5 marathons, but it takes a toll on your body over time. Sweat Fixx has been the first thing I have found, since running, that gives me that same high. I love long stretches on the rower. It is high intensity with low impact. I ended physical therapy last June for my neck. The PT said to keep exercising to keep the mobility and range of motion. Sweat Fixx has kept me from returning to his office! And as Amanda Fakhreddine said during one of her inspiring classes, “your mind can be your best friend or your worst enemy.” I always leave class feeling stronger and happier. It gets my mind right.
What’s one thing that you look forward to every time you come to a class?
Every time I come to class, I look forward to the community of Sweat Fixx. The instructors and clients all support each other. It is such a positive, uplifting place to work out. Seriously, it’s like Cheers, sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, and they’re always glad you came.
What motivates you to be stronger?
I’m most motivated by the community. The instructors are all so positive and their killer bodies make you want to be stronger. I’m motivated by the person sitting in front of me and beside me on the rower. I would never push myself the same way. Sweat Fixx takes you beyond your comfort zone, but in a safe environment! I get stronger with each class.
When you aren’t crushing it on the rower or mat, where can we find you?
You can find me working at a school for the deaf in Boston. I work with deaf and hard-of-hearing students on communication and aural rehabilitation. I work with many students with additional/severe disabilities. I also have a private practice in Dyslexia and serve on the board of the MA Branch of the International Dyslexia Association. My work is my passion, but I also love to spend time with my family and friends. In the summer, you can find me on the beach with my sister and nephew.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
It’s definitely listening & dancing to R&B and Hip Hop music (and honestly I don’t feel too guilty about it ;). I love old school R&B from Luther Vandross to Boyz II Men to Whitney Houston. I’m a huge Commodores fan! I have followed Lionel Richie around the country and have met him five times! Kerri Higgins made my dreams come true with the Michael Jackson Row Fixx Night.
What are you most proud of accomplishing since you first came to Sweat Fixx?
I’m most proud of being consistent and showing up each week. I make it a point to schedule it in. I know that I always leave feeling 100x’s better than when I arrived. I love the format of signing up ahead of time; it has kept me accountable.
One tip that you would give to someone who is coming to Sweat Fixx for the first time?
Have fun!
Also, I would encourage someone to try all different classes and all different instructors. Each instructor has a special quality and vibe to their class from Greg Rosa’s motivating yell, “Let’s Go!” to Miriah Corso’s positivity, “So freaking good guys!” to Michelle Thomas’s intensity, “No breaks!” Take advantage of all that is offered. And lastly, life always ebbs and flows, so as the instructors say, “Put it all on the rower!”
