The Beverly studio is so glad that Jess showed up on our opening weekend and that she hasn’t looked back since! Chances are you can catch her in every weekday 5:30 am class and then again on the weekends. She is a huge part of why we love this community and what makes this such an amazing crew.
Jess is someone who leads by example: she puts in hard work so you work hard, too. She is the perfect balance of competition and sportsmanship. Not only does she consistently show up, she crushes every single class and challenges those around her (especially her husband, Mike!)
We are excited to see her continue to get stronger, crush PRs and motivate everyone around her!
How did you first hear about Sweat Fixx?
A friend who knew of Sweat Fixx in Southie tagged me in your announcement for the Beverly opening weekend with the free classes …I haven’t looked back since!
What keeps you coming back?
Everything about Sweat Fixx keeps me coming back! When I came to my first class I belonged to 2 other gyms and ran a couple of days a week. Within a few months I realized that what Sweat Fixx offered me, not only in classes, but as a community was the main reason I was not really attending classes at the other gyms much and decided to let those memberships lapse. All of the instructors are amazing-energetic, motivating, fun- and the camaraderie that is felt every time I come through the door makes every class fun. Beyond just being in class with the instructors and everyone taking the class-it’s really a community. Seeing everyone sweat it out together, bust their asses, and leave with a sweaty smile (knowing that even though you can’t feel your arms or legs and maybe can’t breathe, you’ll likely be back tomorrow) is everything.
What’s one thing that you look forward to every time you come to a class?
Knowing that besides getting an awesome workout, I will get to see friendly, familiar faces. Because Sweat Fixx creates this community, everyone knows each other beyond the studio-even if it’s just because you saw their insta story there is always something good to chat about! It keeps that healthy competition and drive constant. I also like knowing that I am going to be challenged every time…oh and killer playlists!
What motivates you to be stronger?
All of the amazing people that make up the Sweat Fixx community. What is more motivating than watching the person in front of you or next to you beat your time by only a few seconds?! How can you not want to make sure you do better each time? Not to mention being cheered on by the instructors and the others in the room. These classes definitely bring out my competitive side (in a positive way!) and I am constantly trying to beat my PR as well as the person next to me (especially when it’s Mike 🙄)
When you aren’t crushing it on the rower or mat, where can we find you?
As far as exercise goes, you can find me out running-snowboarding in the winter, at the the beach or enjoying a cocktail on an outdoor patio in the summer, reading, and walking my dog, Harvey.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
A good martini with olives
What are you most proud of accomplishing since you first came to Sweat Fixx?
As much as I like having my name up on that 100 class crew board, really just how much stronger I feel overall. Before coming to Sweat Fixx, I already worked out and ran at least 5 days a week so I was already in pretty good shape, but I feel like my body feels so much stronger now. I am able to see the gains not just because of how I feel but watching myself get stronger over time as I started rowing faster and lifting heavier.
One tip that you would give to someone who is coming to Sweat Fixx for the first time?
Don’t be afraid! Everyone here, both instructors and patrons, are more than willing to teach, cheer you on, give advice, and help you to get better and stronger than when you walked through the door, no matter what level you are starting from!
Anything else you’d like to add?
I am so very thankful for my Fixx Fam and everything they represent… A bunch of badasses who motivate me to be more of a bad ass myself (one squat/shoulder press/deadlift/”just set your rower to 3 mins.” at a time!
